SEE SAW

See Saw is a participatory sensory circus experience by, with, and for young people with complex needs and their adults.

Accompanied by a live musician, See Saw travels to communities around the country either as a performance, or a workshop, an installation, or a bespoke combination.

Sunrise and Sunset are a brother and sister who live behind the sun. Sunrise loves to get up early and play. When he goes to sleep, Sunset, who loves to sleep in late, will wake up and dance her beautiful evening dance. So it always was. Until one day some visitors arrive…

Designed in collaboration with Cherry Garden School for small groups of participants, this experience gives young people (roughly) the same apparatus as characters, encouraging creative, playful engagement with our vestibular and proprioceptive senses.

See Saw can appear in your community as a one-off performance, or the team stay for a week or more, building up skills, ease and trust through preliminary workshops.

Our goal is to bring this project to as many communities as possible over the next few years. If you would like See Saw to come to your community, school, theatre or festival, please have a look at the options below and get in touch at see.saw.sensory@gmail.com, or send us a message using the contact form below.

Where See Saw's been

Flying Fantastic Peckham / Cherry Garden School - March 2024

Curve Gallery, Barbican Centre - August 2024

The Big Feast, Stoke-on-Trent - August 2025

Tramshed Theatre, Woolwich - September 2025

How incredible it was to have you in space. I am not even blowing hot air when I say it blew me out of the water! There were so many smiling faces in that room.

Carmen Okome, Barbican Creative Learning

The team have created a wonderful sensory experience, that is unique and has SEND children at the heart of its design and performance.

We need more work like this that has been specifically designed for children from this community, not merely adapted to be ‘accessible’.

The show is impressive with its use of live music as a character, ariel arts and interactive storytelling.

- Joe Cocklin, Participation Manager, Tramshed
